After 33 years in business, Rainbow Pools and Living Arts Design keeps to its mission “to constantly exceed its reputation as the best swimming pool, retail service, and construction company in the industry.”
Averaging between 30 and 40 pools per year, and serving clients in Ulster, Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester, New York, as well as Greenwich and Fairfield, Connecticut, owner Michael Todd believes it is superior skill and a solid reputation, not advertising dollars, that keeps him at the top of his field. For that reason, he does not carry a reference list, but rather prefers word-of-mouth endorsements.
“We believe and encourage you to talk to anyone about the process and keep track of which company keeps getting mentioned over and over,” says Todd.
The pool featured, which overlooks the United States Military Academy at West Point, would quickly make a rousing endorsement—not many homes have a view quite like this one, and Todd knew just how to capitalize on it.
“We raised the pool 17 feet into the air in order to gain the best view of the Hudson River and West Point. The support system took two months to build and over 150 yards of concrete in support piers and grade beams to create a stable base on the rock ledge. The pool then rose another six feet from that base,” says Todd.
As with all of their projects, Todd and his team oversaw everything from the excavation to the construction of the support system to each little detail of the project customization.
“For example, the client wanted a special coping made of schist, which had to be custom made and shipped in from Massachusetts. We also installed a glass panel rail so as not to obstruct the view,” notes Todd, who encourages people to explore why Rainbow Pools and Living Art Design is the best choice for that new, custom in-ground swimming pool.
