CREATIVE ENVIRONMENTS DESIGN & LANDSCAPE

BUILDING COMPLETE OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENTS FOR MORE THAN SEVEN DECADES

For more than 75 years, Creative Environments Design & Landscape has helped shape luxury outdoor living through an integrated approach that brings landscape architecture, swimming pools, outdoor structures, and long-term property care together under one roof. Founded in 1950 and based in Tempe, Arizona, the firm designs and builds approximately 800 to 900 projects annually while providing design services for clients throughout the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the British Virgin Islands.

Rather than viewing a swimming pool as a standalone feature, Creative Environments approaches every project as a complete outdoor environment. Each estate is thoughtfully planned to create a seamless relationship between architecture, landscape, water, and the way homeowners live and entertain. From resort-inspired backyards to expansive private retreats, every design is tailored to reflect the client’s lifestyle while maximizing the beauty and functionality of the property.

A defining characteristic of the company is its commitment to keeping much of the design, construction, fabrication, and maintenance process in-house. This collaborative model gives designers and craftsmen greater creative freedom while maintaining quality control throughout every phase of a project. The firm’s dedicated metal fabrication shop further expands those capabilities, allowing custom architectural details, sculptural elements, shade structures, water features, and other one-of-a-kind installations to be created specifically for each residence.

That integrated philosophy is reflected across a diverse portfolio. The Merion Grove in Queen Creek, Arizona, features a dramatic circular rain curtain that echoes the curved forms found throughout the landscape, creating a memorable focal point at the heart of the outdoor living space. In Holly Springs, North Carolina, The Longleaf Crest pairs a negative-edge pool with a cantilevered bed nook, drawing the eye across the water while reinforcing the property’s strong architectural lines. Meanwhile, The Signature at Black Mountain in Scottsdale showcases a nearly 2,000-square-foot Lautner-edge pool integrated with a triangular spa and sunken fire pit, demonstrating how restrained forms and precise detailing can complement the surrounding desert landscape.

The firm’s multidisciplinary team combines expertise in landscape architecture, engineering, construction, fabrication, and horticulture, allowing projects to move seamlessly from concept through long-term stewardship. This continuity helps preserve the original design intent while ensuring each landscape continues to mature and perform as envisioned.

A negative-edge pool and spa anchor the space, while a putting green, intimate fire retreat, and outdoor dining area create distinct destinations throughout the landscape. Today, Creative Environments continues to build on a legacy established more than seven decades ago. By blending innovative design, technical expertise, and comprehensive in-house capabilities, the company creates outdoor environments that extend the living experience beyond the home’s walls, delivering timeless spaces designed for relaxation, entertaining, and lasting memories.
