A 176-Foot Pool Built for Entertaining Above the Pacific

From swim-up bar to underwater viewing windows, this Malibu aquatic experience is engineered for impact.

At Simka, the pool is not an accessory feature but a defining architectural gesture that extends the estate’s philosophy of endurance and experiential design. Stretching 176 feet along the bluff, the multi-level pool is crafted in vein-matched stone and positioned to visually merge with the Pacific beyond. From key vantage points, water appears to flow directly into the horizon, creating a seamless dialogue between built environment and coastline.

An Architectural Centerpiece

Created by Kris Halliday, known as ‘God’s Architect,’ Simka was deliberately engineered to withstand fire, seismic activity, tsunami, mudslide and coastal erosion. Constructed with more than 7,300 cubic yards of super-reinforced concrete, the estate reflects a rare level of structural foresight. Halliday’s philosophy was rooted in studying ancient fortresses and temples that have endured for centuries. Rather than designing for a market cycle, he designed for longevity.

The scale of the pool mirrors the monumentality of the residence itself. Its layered design unfolds gradually, revealing distinct zones for relaxation, socializing, and reflection. The vein-matched stone emphasizes continuity, reinforcing the home’s disciplined geometry.

A swim-up bar anchors gatherings, allowing guests to remain immersed while engaging with adjacent terraces. Nearby, a sunken lounge offers an intimate conversation space at water level. A dramatic viewing window introduces a striking visual element, connecting the aquatic environment to the adjacent fitness center.

Designed for Social Flow

Surrounding terraces and shaded loggias extend the pool’s footprint into dining and lounging areas. Integrated outdoor kitchens support large-scale entertaining, while swinging daybeds and a circular fire lounge activate the environment into evening hours. The pool’s length allows for both leisurely floating and dedicated lap swimming.

The multi-level configuration creates visual interest and varied depths, encouraging movement throughout the space. Lighting elements transform the pool after sunset, enhancing its reflective qualities and reinforcing its role as both social stage and sculptural installation.

Water as Wellness

Beyond recreation, the pool plays a central role in the estate’s wellness narrative. Underwater windows connect the fitness center to the pool, introducing shifting light and motion into interior workout spaces. Adjacent spa amenities include a sauna, cold plunge and treatment rooms, allowing residents to move fluidly between thermal experiences.

Framed by Japanese gardens, waterfalls, koi ponds and meandering pathways, the aquatic environment becomes immersive rather than ornamental. The sound of moving water, the rhythm of ocean waves beyond the bluff and the precision of stone detailing reinforce a cohesive design language.

Like the residence it complements, the pool was engineered for longevity. Materials were selected for durability in coastal conditions, and its structure reflects the same commitment to resilience that defines the estate as a whole. At Simka, water is shaped with the same deliberation as concrete—resulting in a pool environment that balances spectacle with permanence and transforms everyday leisure into an architectural experience.
