The Pinnacle Awards, sponsored by Luxury Pools magazine, is one of the industry’s most prestigious honors presented to the world’s elite pool designers and builders. Judged by distinguished industry leaders on the basis of functionality, structural engineering and hydraulics, landscape architecture, and appearance, the Pinnacle Awards are granted to the best of the best. “The judges review every project with an expert eye, and even though all of the entries are outstanding in their own way, the panel chooses the winners because they epitomize the Pinnacle Awards: superlative work by the industry’s finest,” said Luxury Pools publisher, Robert Dean.
This year, three highly respected pool designers and builders were acknowledged with a Pinnacle Award: Anthony & Sylvan Pools of Doylestown, PA.; Cipriano Custom Swimming Pools & Landscaping of Mahwah, N.J.; and Questar Pools & Spas of Escondido, Calif. “Since its inception in 2010, the Pinnacle Awards have been conferred upon 16 luxury pool projects,” explains Dean. “Winning this honor is definitely reserved for those professionals who design and build masterpieces.”
Cipriano Custom Swimming Pools & Landscaping was praised for its design and construction. Its elegant interpretation of a Stradivarius violin—right down to the spa that mimics the violin’s chinrest—captivated the judges. “This pool is finished with over 440,000 glass tile pieces,” describes Dean. “Plus, the pool’s lighting system is synchronized to the underwater audio system through a DMX controller.”
Anthony & Sylvan Pools was commended for both its design and construction of a fabulous pool setting. Featuring a variety of amenities, this poolscape caught the judges’ attention because of how well it synced its many elements into one sophisticated unit. “This multi-dimensional poolscape includes four separate bodies of water and four water walls,” said Dean. “From the Koi pond, infinity spa, 1,735 square-foot main pool, and a kitchen area that features a reflection/wading pool, this outdoor space is more than a backyard: it’s a destination.”
Following up on its 2013 Pinnacle Award, Questar Pools & Spas received a 2014 award for a masterful design that blends every aspect of the property into one harmonious motif. “There were many skilled professionals involved in this project who worked together to create a fabulous multipurpose outdoor space,” said Dean. “The deck is finished in French limestone while the pool and spa are done in glass tile. Plus, the pool house (which was an existing home on a neighboring property) was remodeled to match the architectural style of the family home.”
