Thinking about adding a sweet and soft hue to your outdoor living space? Check out Peach Fuzz, Pantone’s Color of the Year 2024. When Pantone announced its 25th Color of the Year, Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute was delighted with the selection saying the cozy peach hue nestled between pink and orange presents a fresh approach to a new softness.
We reached out to Eiseman to share her thoughts about Peach Fuzz and how it can be used outdoors. She says that introducing soft and cozy Peach Fuzz into home interiors and exteriors creates a welcoming ambiance. “A heartfelt peach hue whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul, Peach Fuzz conjures up an air of calm, offering us a space to be, feel, and heal and to flourish from. Peach Fuzz infuses our most personalized worlds with a comforting presence,” says Eiseman. The cozy chroma sounds perfect for creating a cocoon of comfort in your backyard.
Eiseman comments that Peach Fuzz is a delightfully different color around the pool, at the same time it is complementary to the usual blues and greens or neutrals generally found in the pool area. “Remembering that everyone feels cool when leaving the pool and the first thing one reaches for is a large towel or comfy robe, Peach Fuzz is the perfect tone to wrap yourself in to feel lots of embracing warmth. For the same reason, it is a great hue for covers for a lounge chair. Table-top would also look deliciously appetizing in peach,” says Eiseman.
Designer Nancy Boughton envisions using the hue in outdoor cushions with contrasting white or light blue welt, in striped cabanas, towels, and flowers such as geraniums. Chris Roughan of Roughan Interiors notes that you can mix any number of neutrals with Peach Fuzz outdoors. She sees Pantone’s Color of the Year as a stellar choice for outdoor cushions, draperies, and patterns in carpets.
“With this year’s Pantone Color of the Year 2024, we see an increased focus on community and people across the world reframing how they want to live and evaluate what is important – that being the comfort of being close to those we love. The color is one whose warm and welcoming embrace conveys a message of compassion and whose cozy sensibility brings people together and enriches the soul,” adds Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.
Are you thirsty for ways to incorporate Peach Fuzz into your poolside menu? “Think refreshing and cooling. It’s Tequila time and so any drink highly infused with lime,” says Eiseman. “Then with so much talk about plant-based diets, forget the charcuterie around the pool and opt for more exotic veggies like jicama and raw asparagus with dips,” says Eiseman.
Sounds peachy keen!
