View from Above: 5 Rooftop Pools in New York City

Breathtaking pools exist even in the heart of bustling cities—check out some of our favorite pools in New York City.

As summer in the city rages on and temperatures rise, there is nothing better than soaking up the sun in a semi-private swimming pool—a real luxury in New York. Rooftop pools provide additional amenity space, exceptional views, and a space for rest, relaxation, and gathering. Hill West Architects and Whitehall Interiors have helped design several residential swimming pools and living spaces in the New York City area. Here is a look at five of their projects.

Skyline Tower

From bright, open studios to sleek and spacious one- to four-bedroom condos and penthouses, Long Island City’s Skyline Tower defines elegant modern design. The newly built property is the tallest outer-borough building in New York. Residents have access to an exclusive, light-filled 75-foot indoor pool and  Whirlpool spa, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows and a large skylight. Modern Spaces is handling the sales and marketing of Skyline Tower.

363 Bond Street

The pool at 363 Bond St. is so cool, it has its own name: Brooklyn Crush. In addition to cooling off at Brooklyn Crush, residents enjoy views of Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan, a vibrant mural by Triston Eaton for the perfect ‘summer in the city’ photo opp, cabanas and loungers, and ample green space.

50 West

At over 780 feet tall, 50 West allows residents to see ships sail into the New York Harbor, admire the Statue of Liberty from their curved glass windows, and see both the Hudson and East Rivers on either side of lower Manhattan. The property has four floors dedicated to a comprehensive suite of amenities, including its Water Club, which features a 60-foot swimming pool along with a hot tub and a lifeguard, as well as a variety of activities including water aerobics and water polo. The adject cedar-lined sauna and marble steam room create tranquil spaces, perfect to soothe the body and mind after a busy day.

PLG

The recently completed PLG in South Brooklyn features 26 stories, floating above Prospect Lefferts Gardens with endless 360-degree views. The property includes two pools: a rooftop pool on the luxury rental’s 22nd  floor, with panoramic views, lush foliage, and chaise lounges, and an indoor pool for colder temperatures and those for residents looking to avoid the sun.

5 Pointz’s all season indoor pool with accompanying luxury chaise lounge chairs is complimented by the floor to ceiling windows surrounding the pool deck. The windows open to allow residents to enjoy the summer sun, while the heated pools allow for swimming all winter long.
