Are you in search of a quintessential New England summer getaway sparkling with elevated hospitality and an inviting vibe? With its reimagined pool and vibrant summer programming, Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Collection is the perfect spot to soak up the sunshine and experience summer in the Connecticut countryside.

We were lucky to have experienced the Mayflower Inn & Spa’s magic before our recent visit, but this summer shines with its reimagined pool and curated programming. Meandering around the 58 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and woodlands or curling up in the spa sanctuary after a restorative treatment is a delicious way to spend a summer day. Along with hiking, fly-fishing, archery, tennis and nature walks at your fingertips, you can also enjoy kayaking and biking nearby.
Here are five reasons to dive into luxury at the Mayflower Inn & Spa.
A reimagined pool by an award-winning designer

Celerie Kemble collaborated with Schumacher Hospitality to reimagine the pool. The redesign brings pattern, texture, and a softened coastal palette to the magical destination. Gorgeous greens and dreamy neutrals set a serene tone. Kemble layered textures and tailored details to the historic New England setting to create her signature style. Mayflower Inn & Spa’s poolside paradise mirrors the destination’s elevated and inviting feel.
A pool vibe to dive for

Who else but Kemble could create such a cool pool vibe? She says she is delighted to create new poolside comforts at her favorite Connecticut escape. “We’re bringing wicker whimsy, plush cushions in verdant colors, and playful fabrics inspired by Portuguese tiles. Clovers, stripes, and scallops all play together next to the pool. All we need are warm days, a good book, and some downtime to make it perfect.”
Elevated and curated pool programming
Summer programs include a spritz service, lawn games, an ice cream cart and seasonal outdoor gatherings. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can go on a guided hike through Steep Rock Nature Preserve and say hello to native flora, quiet waterways and seasonal wildlife along the way. You can also enjoy a hands-on pastry workshop from Cakes from the Garden, featuring edible flowers and seasonal blooms. We thanked our lucky stars for a tarot card reading with Regina Olson of Tarot in Thyme.
THE WELL of your wishes

The Retreat at Mayflower Inn & Spa, a 20,000-square-foot spa sanctuary featuring the Pool House with a greenhouse-style, all-season pool, traditional hammam, and a Biophilic Thermal Pool. The hyper-customized facial was quite the wake-up call for my thritsy skin, but curling up in the spacious sanctuary is the pièce de résistance of the spa experience.
Delightful dining

We were fortunate to dish with Chef Dowdy, who shared his passion for woodland, coastal, and garden flavors. His enthusiasm for working with local farmers, purveyors and seasonal ingredients is illuminated in creatively curated menus. The summer is the perfect time to enjoy lighter fare like the charcuterie of the week, try the pan-seared brook trout and cap the evening with a scoop of sorbet and a maple donut.
Toast to summer days with a Washington Spritz made with St.-germain, blueberry and bubbles!
