On September 17, industry leaders gathered for an inspiring midday conversation as Casual Market Atlanta and Luxury Pools + Outdoor Living present Lunch & Learn: Outdoor Luxury Reimagined — Defining 2025 Design. The panel explored the emerging aesthetics, materials, and innovations that are set to define the future of outdoor luxury living.
Moderated by Melissa C. Gillespie, Editor of Luxury Pools + Outdoor Living and Managing Editor of Ocean Home, the event was a dynamic exchange of ideas at the intersection of artistry, functionality, and lifestyle.
A Panel of Industry Voices
The panel brought together four design leaders whose work has shaped remarkable outdoor spaces:
- Erika Canales, Residential Director of Sales at Tuuci, represents the brand known for its shade structures and outdoor structures. She works closely with the residential design community to deliver refined, performance-driven environments that balance beauty and comfort.
- Masha Carter, founder and president of Cosmic Design Studio, brings a global perspective and a passion for storytelling to her bespoke pool and outdoor living projects. With a background in the arts, fashion, and business, her work reflects a belief that design is a form of art curating unique experiences.
- Ryan Hughes, president and creative director of Ryan Hughes Design, has redefined luxury outdoor living with custom pools, landscapes, and integrated fire and water features. His award-winning firm pairs technical expertise with a bold, international design sensibility.
- Daniel Keeley, founder and principal of DK Design, has spent more than three decades shaping timeless exterior environments. Known for his elegant, balanced approach, Keeley creates outdoor spaces that seamlessly extend the comfort and style of the home into the landscape.
Together, these panelists discussed how sculptural furniture, artisan-crafted surfaces, and bold geometric forms are transforming patios, terraces, and open-air rooms into destinations for modern living.
The Future of Outdoor Living
As demand grows for outdoor environments that are as thoughtfully designed as interiors, homeowners are looking to designers for solutions that blend luxury with livability. Sustainability, craftsmanship, and innovation are playing an increasingly central role in shaping these spaces.
“This is where the conversation is headed in 2025,” says Gillespie. “Outdoor luxury today is about more than aesthetics — it’s about redefining how we connect, relax, and live outdoors.”
The session was designed for architects, designers, builders, and homeowners eager to learn how leading voices are shaping the next era of outdoor living.
